• FOX NETWORKS GROUP CONTENT DISTRIBUTION BOLSTERS GROWING TEAM WITH NEW APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS


    LONDON, March 2016 – FOX Networks Group Content Distribution (FNGCD) today announces that it has expanded its team with the appointment of seven new hires:  Tristan Oarton as vice president, finance; Manuel Miguez as executive director sales, Latin American & Hispanic U.S.; Carolina Lozano, as sales associate manager, Latin America; Maria Grazia Ursino as executive sales director, Italy, Spain & Portugal; JeeYoung Lee, as executive director sales, Japan, Korea & regional formats Asia and Tracy Davis as associate director, deal & rights management.


    In addition to the new appointments Joanna Rowley, who has been an integral member of the content distribution team for more than twenty years, was recently upped to executive director sales, Northern Europe & Africa, while Magdalena Szwedkowicz has been promoted to VP sales, CEE & MENA, managing sales activity and a regional team based across London, Moscow, Warsaw and Istanbul.

    Managing a team in London, Tristan Oarton oversees all financial planning and reporting for FOX Networks Group Content Distribution.  Most recently, Oarton served as VP financial planning and analysis at Universal, where he established a new international FP&A team/function for the company following Comcast’s acquisition from General Electric.  


    Operating out of Miami, Manuel Miguez is responsible for sales in Latin America. Miguez joins the business from BBC Worldwide Distribution, where he successfully reengineered the company’s content sales team and operations in Latin America and Hispanic U.S. Prior to that, he was the director, sales planning for Sony Pictures Television Distribution. Joining him in the region will be Carolina Lozana, based in Colombia, who most recently served as a sales executive at RCN. 


    JeeYoung Lee joins the team with more than 20 years experience in content and format sales, most recently at Endemol, and before that Shine, Viacom, CJ Media. She will be based in the Fox Networks Group Korean office.


    Located in Rome, Maria Grazia Ursino will look after sales in Italy, Spain and Portugal. For 10 years, Maria was the sales director at Sony Pictures Television where she managed sales activities throughout Italian speaking Europe.  She now reports into Peter Grant, FOX Networks Group Content Distribution’s VP sales for Western and Southern Europe.


    Tracy Davis has joined the team to oversee a newly created deal and rights management division in the London office. Prior to joining FOX Networks Group Content Distribution, Davis served as the commercial director, music, for Endemol Shine Group, where she headed a team that managed the global music publishing and secondary rights administration for the worldwide group.

  • FOX NETWORKS GROUP CONTENT DISTRIBUTION LAUNCHES MIPTV SLATE, FEATURING WINNING DRAMAS, HIGH-END FACTUAL AND LEADING ON AND OFF-SCREEN TALENT


     

    LONDON, March 22nd, 2017 – FOX Networks Group Content Distribution (FNGCD) is pleased to announce that it will launching nearly 2000 new hours of content to buyers at MIPTV 2017, including Legion, the big new FX and Marvel supernatural drama series; landmark National Geographic factual series ORIGINS: The Journey of Humankind; second seasons of hit series Outcast and Story of God with Morgan Freeman, plus a raft of ratings-winning local language content from its partners around the world.

     

    Drama

    Legion (8 x 60), a brilliant new take on the superhero genre, is based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz and spearheads FNGCD’s new drama slate at the market. The series has been brought to the screen by Noah Hawley (Fargo), and stars Dan Stevens (Beauty & the Beast, Downton Abbey) and Rachel Keller (Fargo).  Legion which has won terrific ratings since premiering in February and has been praised in the media for its totally original look and feel, has just been re-commissioned. A second 10 x 60 season of Outcast, a suspense drama about possession, will also be launched in Cannes. Created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), it sees Patrick Fugit and Philip Glenister reprise their roles from season one, with new characters arriving in the town of Rome, played by C Thomas Howell (Criminal Minds) and Hoon Lee (Banshee).

     

    FOX Networks Group Content Distribution has had notable success over the past few years with its growing catalogue of Turkish dramas and will be bringing six new series to MIPTV this April – each already a hit in Turkey. These include romantic drama Lodestar (Çoban Yildizi38 x 60, which premiered as this season’s highest-rating original drama; Second Chance (Kalbimdeki Deniz) 117 x 60, about a woman who hits rock bottom and fights back and Never Lose Hope (Umuda Kelepçe Vurulmaz) 48 x 60, focused on a group of teens in prison. Both the latter two are the number one series in their respective day slots. Last but not least there is Forever Bound (Dayan Yüre─čim) 38 x 60, about a woman faced with the dilemma of seeking either happiness or justice: the audience for this big new series is growing rapidly with every episode.  In addition, there are new episodes for popular returning series such as That is My Life (O Hayat Benim) – now in its fourth season, with more than 400 episodes - and No. 309.


    From Latin America, FNGCD will be launching Call Me Bruna (Llámame Bruna) 8 x 60 – Brazil’s hit drama based on the true story of a young girl who eschews her middle-class life for the world of prostitution; 2091 (11 x 60 + 1 x 120), a big budget, ratings-grabbing, futuristic drama (and Latin America’s first original sci-fi show), set in a world where gaming has been banned, and Home Grown (Prata da Casa) a 14 x 30 sitcom about a former Olympic athlete, now out of work and forced to live back home with his troublesome parents.


    Factual

    ORIGINS: The Journey of Humankind (8 x 60) travels back in time across the entire sweep of human history on quest to discover the ‘Origin’ moments that have made us modern. Produced by Asylum Entertainment and Melodysheep for National Geographic, it explores quantum leaps in areas such as transportation and communications, with world-class thinker Jason Silva as its guide. Water & Power: A California Heist (1x90/1 x 60) is an alarming new feature documentary that uncovers the ruthless exploits of California’s notorious water barons. Chosen for competition at this year’s Sundance Festival and produced by Emmy-winner Marina Zenovich and Oscar-winner Alex Gibney, it has also spawned a 3 x 60 series Parched, which looks at the true stories behind water supplies around the world. Oscar-winner James Cameron worked with three-time Emmy award-winner Simcha Jacobovici to produce Atlantis Rising (1 x 120), a high-end investigative archaeology special that goes in search of Atlantis, while Oscar and Emmy winners were also at the helm of LA92 (1 x 120), an immersive and visceral film about the infamous Rodney King incident and its aftermath, which included the worst riots in US history. Executive producers on this very relevant documentary are TJ Martin and Daniel Lindsay – Oscar-winning directors of Undefeated and Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn, the Oscar and Emmy-winning producers of Searching for Sugarman, Man on Wire and 30 Days.

     


    Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric (1 x 120) – from Katie Couric Media, World of Wonder and National Geographic Studios - taps into the current interest in gender and transgender issues and sees the broadcasting legend talk with scientists, psychologists, surgeons, activists and individuals themselves to learn more about the role of genetics, brain chemistry and modern culture on gender fluidity. Bare Knuckle Fight Club (3 x 60/1 x 60), from FX Productions and Lightbox Media for Channel 4, dives deep into the underground world of bare knuckle fighting, while Lawless Oceans (6 x 60) from Wall to Wall follows maritime special investigator Karsten von Hoesslin as he tries to solve a murder on the high seas. Story of God with Morgan Freeman was National Geographic’s biggest non-scripted show in 15 years when it launched in 2016. Now it’s back with three new hours, whereby Freeman travels the globe to try and understand the connections and common ground between the world’s major religions. Also back for a second season is Breakthrough (6 x 60), Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s acclaimed series following scientists working on major breakthroughs for cutting-edge projects. This series runs the gamut of new research from re-engineering immune cells to cyber attacks and the Darknet.

     

    Formats

    Finally, FNGCD is delighted to announce that hot on the heels of School for Husbands, School for In-Laws will be launching in Cannes. This funny and emotional spin-off format turns the focus on mothers-in-law who meddle in the lives of their children and their spouses, and sends them back to school to partake in a variety of exercises and tests, all designed to aid family harmony.
